Bajaj Majhi City Takatak Campaign for Zero Waste Aurangabad, in partnership with AMC, CII & CRT^.
When Mr. Kendrekar became the Municipal Commissioner of Aurangabad City, he realized the dire need to overhaul the age old practices of waste collection and disposal/ open dumping being followed in the city. He had seen first hand the benefits of shifting to a ‘zero-waste’ model in CIDCO Waluj with the assistance of Civic Response Team (CRT^), and thus planned to have the same implemented in Aurangabad on an urgent basis.
The Elected Representatives such as the Mayor Mr. Trimbak Tupe, Deputy Mayor Mr. Pramod Rathod, Standing Committee Chairman Mr. Thorat, my SWM in-charge Mr. Shivaji Zanzan and Mr. Kendrekar along with the CRT^ held many meetings to plan the processes and execution of this program. CRT^ held meetings with residents, and other civil society members were also involved, from which the catchy name, ‘Majhi City Taka-Tak’ (MCTT) was born for the campaign to be conducted under.
Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) was soon invited, the then Chairman Mr. Sriram Narayanan and member Mr. Prashant Deshpande showed immense interest and investment in the program, and roped in various funders such as Grind Master Machines Pvt Ltd, Endress + Hauser Automation, B.M. Construction and Bajaj Auto to provide the financial assistance required to cover consultancy, planning & monitoring costs for implementing such a program.
